Seven Summits Events

Last weekend saw many locals and visitors tough it out on the Seven Summits, one of the epic trails in BC. Saturday was the trail run event in which competitors (or crazy people as I like to think of them) run a 26 km stretch of the well known Seven Summits trail. I met a fellow from Richmond, Washington who came up to participate, and after the run he still had the energy to stroll around town and even dropped in on the open house I was hosting in downtown Rossland! Sunday was the biking event which was comprised of a poker run of the whole trail, which begins at Nancy Greene summit and ends in Patterson. The idea of a poker run is that you stop at various checkpoints and pick up a playing card, and at the end there is a prize for the best poker hand! Seems like a lot of work to play cards if you ask me…but seriously, it is an amazing trail, the views are spectacular and the weather is absolutely perfect for it right now, so if you haven’t done it yet, get out there before the snow flies. Last weekend was also Golden City Days in Rossland, and loads of people hit the streets to shop, eat, listen to live music, and just have a good time. Downtown was packed, and many local businesses had special sales in honor of the event. The weather held (this event has a tendency to have less than pleasant weather) and has continued to hold throughout the week. We are having the nicest Indian Summer I can remember for some time. In the real estate world, there are amazing deals to be had on condo’s at Red Mountain right now, and with ski season fast approaching now is the time to seize the day and jump on board! In the meantime I’ll try to squeeze in a few more bike rides and golf games and enjoy those last lingering moments of sunshine and warmth…
