Spring showers in the mountains!

Spring is in full bloom here at Red Mountain! We have just had an incredible long weekend of sun to get flowers blooming and hungry bears on the prowl. That’s right, denning season is over and the bears are back! My golden retriever did his job this weekend keeping them out of the backyard, but here at the mountain they get to roam with abandon. The Kootenays look amazing as the trees suddenly turned green and the tulips exploded with colour! Mountain bike season is almost in full swing with many trails now open, but some are still awaiting the meltoff of lingering snow. Spring Cleaning, Kootenay Columbia, Cemetary, and Paleface are all open, but be prepared to get dirty! Road bikers are all over the Seven Mile Dam Road, and the women in Betty Go Hard mountain bike group are getting fit fast! I have been enjoying hikes on Deer Park Mtn and Monte Christo and just being in the back yard smelling the BBQ’s all over the neighbourhood. It is so fabulous here right now that I don’t even miss the surfing waves of Sayulita, Mexico where I spent 2 weeks in April escaping the spring melt in Rossland! Soon we’ll be hiking up Old Glory and admiring the sensational 360 degree views that we lucky residents get to call our backyard…
